iOS Settings Troubleshooting

WiFi Settings Issues

This section focuses on problems related to an iOS device’s WiFi settings. To learn more about WiFi settings, see Apple Support.

My device keeps connecting to a neighbor’s WiFi instead of mine.

iOS devices automatically connect to the strongest WiFi signal available. Forget WiFi networks that a device has connected to in the past to prevent it from hopping off the business’ network.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Select 'Wi-Fi' on the left.
  3. Tap the blue 'i' icon next to the network that needs to be forgotten.
  4. Tap 'Forget this Network' and 'Forget' to confirm.

My device keeps connecting to an open WiFi network close to the business.

iOS devices automatically connect to the strongest WiFi signal in the area. Follow the steps above to Forget any unwanted networks and turn on ‘Ask to Join Networks’ to be alerted when the device tries to connect to an unprotected network.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Select 'Wi-Fi' on the left.
  3. Scroll to the bottom on the right.
  4. Toggle 'Ask to Join Networks' on.

    The on/off toggle switch should be green, indicating that you have turned the feature on.

Bluetooth Settings Issues

The Bluetooth is not picking up any of my devices that are powered on and in range.

The Bluetooth connection may need to refreshed.

  1. In the iOS device's Settings app, turn Bluetooth off, then back on.
  2. If the Bluetooth is still not finding any devices, power off each iOS and hardware device.
  3. Turn each device back on.
  4. Check that the devices are showing up in the Bluetooth Settings now.

General Settings Issues

How do I know if my iDynamo is connected?

The iOS device detects any accessory connected to its charging port and displays that information under the About section.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'About' on the right.
  3. Scroll down on the right and tap 'iDynamo'.
  4. Tap 'Find App for Accessory' to make sure it’s compatible.

    Ambur should appear on this list of apps.

I want to update iOS on my device.

iOS is your device’s operating system. Apple periodically updates iOS to provide software upgrades, improve performance, and fix bugs.

Updating iOS can be a lengthy process, so only do it once your business is closed for the day.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'Software Update' on the right.
  3. Tap 'Download & Install' and follow the prompts on screen.

The date and time on my device is wrong.

The date, time, and time zone affect what prints on receipts and the timestamps on reporting.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'Date & Time' on the right.
  3. If connected to the internet, turn 'Set Automatically' on to automatically set the date, time, and time zone.

    If the device is not connected to the internet, manually adjust the date, time, and time zone as needed.

  4. Verify that the date, time, and time zone are all correct.

My device's time shows up without AM or PM.

It is because the 24-Hour Time setting is toggled on. Not to worry, the solution is easy.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'Date & Time' on the right.
  3. Turn off '24-Hour Time'.

Receipts print out with the wrong date and time.

The date and time on a receipt come directly from the device’s settings. Follow the instructions above to correct the date and time on each device and fix the problem in no time.

Safari Settings Issues

I’m having trouble logging into Ambur Cloud on my iOS device. I know it’s not my password.

Many times there may be an issue with the website data stored on your iPad. In this case, clearing your history may fix this.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'Safari' on the left.
  3. Scroll down on the right and tap 'Clear History and Website Data'.
  4. Tap 'Clear' to confirm.

Ambur Settings Issues

I used to be able to take a picture of a credit card to charge it. Now, I have to enter cards manually.

Ambur requires permission to access the device’s camera for this feature. Just re-enable this permission to fix the issue.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Scroll down on the left and tap 'Ambur'.
  3. Toggle 'Camera' on.
