iOS Settings Troubleshooting

Wi-Fi Settings Issues

This section focuses on problems related to an iOS device’s Wi-Fi settings. To learn more about Wi-Fi settings, see Apple Support.

My device keeps connecting to a neighbor’s Wi-Fi instead of mine.

iOS devices automatically connect to WiFi networks you have used in the past. Forget Wi-Fi networks that a device has previously connected to to prevent it from hopping off the business’s network.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap 'Wi-Fi'.
  2. Tap the blue 'i' icon next to the network you want to forget.

  3. Select 'Forget this Network' and tap 'Forget' to confirm.

My device keeps connecting to an open Wi-Fi network close to my restaurant.

iOS devices automatically connect to the strongest Wi-Fi signal in an area. Follow the steps above to forget unwanted networks, then turn on the setting below to be alerted when the device tries to connect to an unprotected network.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap 'Wi-Fi'.
  2. Forget any open networks the device has previously connected to.
  3. At the bottom of the right side, toggle 'Ask to Join Networks' on (green).

Bluetooth Settings Issues

My iOS device is not detecting any Bluetooth devices in its range.

Try toggling the setting below to refresh your device’s Bluetooth connectivity.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap 'Bluetooth'.
  2. Toggle Bluetooth off, then back on (green).

  3. If the problem persists, power the iOS device off, then back on.

General Settings Issues

This section focuses on issues related to the General section in a device’s settings. To learn more about these settings, see Apple’s manual for your device.

How do I know if my iDynamo is connected?

The iOS device detects any accessory connected to its charging port and displays that information under the About section.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'About' on the right.

  3. Scroll down on the right and tap 'iDynamo'.
  4. Tap 'Find App for Accessory' to make sure it’s compatible.

    Ambur should appear on this list of apps.

I want to update iOS on my device.

iOS is your device’s operating system. Apple periodically updates iOS to provide software upgrades, improve performance, and fix bugs.

Updating iOS can be a lengthy process, so only do it once your business is closed for the day.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'Software Update' on the right.

  3. Tap 'Download & Install' and follow the prompts on screen.

The date / time on my device is wrong.

The date, time, and time zone affect what prints on receipts and the timestamps on reporting.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'Date & Time' on the right.

  3. If connected to the internet, turn 'Set Automatically' on to automatically set the date, time, and time zone.

    If the device is not connected to the internet, manually adjust the date, time, and time zone as needed.

  4. Verify that the date, time, and time zone are all correct.

My device's time shows up without AM or PM.

It is because the 24-Hour Time setting is toggled on. Not to worry, the solution is easy.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Tap 'General' on the left and 'Date & Time' on the right.

  3. Turn off '24-Hour Time'.

Receipts print out with the wrong date / time.

The date and time on receipts comes directly from the device’s settings. Follow the instructions above to correct the date and time on each device and fix the problem in no time.

Ambur Settings Issues

Here you can find issues specific to the Ambur section of settings on the device.

I can no longer take a picture of a credit card to charge it.

Ambur requires permission to access the device’s camera for this feature. Just re-enable this permission to fix the issue.

  1. Open the Settings app on the device.
  2. Scroll down on the left and tap 'Ambur'.
