Ending Your Day

From clocking out to entering your tips to running shift reports, follow these helpful steps to make sure you’ve ended your day correctly in Ambur.

Close Open Orders

Closing open orders allows them to be included in that shifts batch report.

  1. Tap 'Open'.
  2. Select an order.
  3. Select payment option, then tap 'Close'.
  4. If payment does not need to be selected, immediately tap 'Close'.

Enter Tips

Enter tip amounts that may have been left on a signed receipt. All tips should be added before settling the closed transaction.

  1. Tap 'Closed' and select an order.
  2. Tap the credit card payment to adjust it.
  3. Enter tip amount and hit 'Done'.
  4. Repeat steps until each order has their tips entered.

Settle and Batch Transactions

All closed orders tendered with a credit/debit card must be settled in order for them to be included in the Batch Report.

  1. Tap 'Management' and select 'Credit Card Transactions'.
  2. Tap 'Settle'.

    Swiped credit transactions show the last 4 digits of the card used for easy lookup.

  3. Confirm by tapping 'Settle' again.
  4. Select 'Cancel' to close the batch report or 'Print/Email' to save a copy.

Balance Cash Drawer

Reconciling your drawer at the end of the day makes it easy to keep track of the cash coming in and going out. Remember to consider any drops, payouts, or voids that may affect your totals.

  1. Count cash in drawer.

    Knowing the starting amount helps confirm that you’ve taken in the correct amount of cash based on your sales. Record cash amounts outside of Ambur.

  2. Run Shift Report and compare.

    Refer to your Shift Report for your total cash sales, credit card sales, discounts, tips, and voids. Your total cash sales should equal the amount that you counted in the drawer minus the opening amount.

Clock Out

Clocking out keeps track of employee shifts and is recorded on the Payroll Report.

  1. Tap the Globe icon.
  2. Tap 'Clock Out'.
  3. Confirm that you'd like to clock out by tapping 'Clock Out' again.
  4. (optional) If 'Print Hours on Clock Out?' is enabled, select a printer to print your hours to.

Claim Tips

After confirming that you’d like to clock out, you will be prompted to enter the total cash tips you’d like to claim. Claimed tips are recorded in the Shift Report, Tip Report, and Payroll Report.

  1. Enter the amount of cash tips to claim and tap 'Done'.

Run Shift Report

After claiming tips and clocking out, run the Shift Report to view a breakdown of sales, tips, and voids. Refer to the Shift Report for total cash sales.

Remember to check the Permissions that are set for Employees versus Managers. Generally, employee Shift Reports will only reflect the employee’s sales. Managers usually have permissions to print a Detailed Shift Report, which includes sales from all employees clocked in during the shift.

  1. Tap the Globe icon.
  2. Tap 'Shift Report'.
  3. Pick the dates to run the report for.
  4. Tap 'Run Report'.
  5. Select a method to view or send the report.

Log Out

Log out of the app to finish the day and keep your app secure.

  1. Tap the Globe icon.
  2. Select 'Log Out'.
