Reduce Database Size

Ambur runs most efficiently with a database size below 150 Mb. Backup the database frequently and reduce the size of your database approximately every six months to prevent any complications. Follow this guide to learn how to backup and reduce the size of your database.

View Your Database Size

Easily keep track of your database size so that you know when to backup and delete old closed orders.

  1. Tap the Globe icon.
  2. Select 'System Status'.
  3. View database size.

Download Valuable Reports

It’s very important that you download your reports prior to deleting your database. You can download all your reports or just download these commonly valued ones: Payroll, Totals by User, and Item Inventory, Sales, & Cost Analysis to CSV.

Backup Database

Ambur automatically backs up your database every hour. Manually backup the database prior to reducing the size of your database for safety.

  1. Tap the Globe icon.
  2. Select 'System Status'.
  3. Tap 'Backup Database Now'.

Download Oversized Database Through iTunes

After downloading all the reports you need, and after you’ve verified your database is larger than 150 Mb, follow these steps to access and download the database from iTunes.

  1. Connect iOS device to a computer and open iTunes.
  2. Tap the device icon.
  3. Click on 'Apps' and scroll down.
  4. Click on the Ambur App icon.

  5. Click and drag the file named Ambur_database.adb1 onto your desktop.

Reduce Database Size

Quickly reduce the size of your database after having downloaded your reports and backed up your database by following these steps.

  1. Tap 'Management' and choose 'Settings'.
  2. Tap the Action icon.
  3. Select 'Reduce DB Size'.
  4. Choose a date and tap 'Delete Closed Orders'.

    Deleting closed orders older than the selected date will reduce the size of your database and keep Ambur running efficiently.
