Discounts, Fees, and Tips

Set up preset discounts, fees, and tips so users can apply them to orders when needed. Whether you offer a senior citizen discount or charge a corkage fee, add it to the bill with just a few taps.

Create a Discount/Fee/Tip

Discounts deduct from an order and fees add to an order. Tips are a type of fee that count as gratuity for the user who owns the order.

  1. Tap 'Management' and select 'Discounts/Fees'.
  2. Tap the + button.
  3. Fill in the details:

    Name | What the discount or fee is called on the register and receipts.
    Discount? | If it is a discount, toggle on. If it is a fee, toggle off.
    Prevents Other Discounts? | If on, other discounts cannot be applied at the same time.
    Percentage-based | Toggle on for a percent discount or off for a dollar amount.
    Counts As Tip? | Toggle on to have the fee count as a tip for the user.
    If on, the fee counts as a tip & affects tip reporting. If off, the fee reflects on sales reports.
    Value | Enter the amount or percentage of the discount/fee.
    Maximum Value | The maximum value the discount/fee can deduct/add.
    Minimum Item Total | The minimum total an order must meet before the discount/fee can be applied.
    Prompt for Name? | If on, enter a custom name for the discount/fee when applying.
    Prompt for Value? | If on, enter a custom value for the discount/fee when applying.

    Banned User Groups | Select user groups that are not allowed to use the discount/fee.
    Customers | Select customers you want to automatically receive the discount/fee when they are assigned to the order.
    Delete discount/fee | Remove the discount/fee/tip from Ambur.

Apply a Discount/Fee/Tip

Choose from the list of created discounts/tips/fees to apply the right one to an order.

  1. Tap the 'Discounts' or 'Fees' tab on an open order.
  2. Choose a discount/fee/tip.
  3. (optional) To remove the discount/fee, tap on it and select 'Remove'.
  4. Complete the order as usual.

Discount/Fee/Tip Permissions

Use Permissions to fine tune what a group of users can access when creating or editing discounts/fees/tips.

  1. Go to 'Permissions' and choose a user group.
  2. Select 'Discount/Fee'.
  3. Modify permissions as needed:

    Toggle whether users in the group can add or delete discounts/fees/tips.

    Select Hide, View, or Edit next to each feature.

    Hide | User Group cannot see the feature at the register.
    View | Ability to view but not change the feature.
    Edit | User group can make changes to the feature.
