Creating Orders
Once a customer decides what they want, enter their order into Ambur. Start the order, send it to the kitchen, and collect payment when they are done eating or drinking.

Start an Order
There are three different ways to start an order. Learn about each below.
From the Open Screen
All of a user’s open orders reside on the Open Screen.
- Tap 'Open' and select the + button.
From the Table Layout
The Table Layout shows which tables are open and which are occupied.
- Tap an open, white table.
Or, select the + button to create a new order.
- Choose the number of guests.
Swipe a Credit Card
Start an order by swiping a customer’s card to automatically name the order after the cardholder. It does not open / close a tab, or save credit card information.
- Tap 'Open' and swipe a card.
- Choose 'Start new Order'.
Add Menu Items
With the order started, add menu items to it, fill in some details, and send it to the kitchen.
- Tap an item from the menu to add it to the order.
- (Optional) Select modifiers, add notes, or change the quantity. Tap 'Done' when finished.
- (Optional) Enter order details. Tap a field to edit.
Name | The customer name, table name, or name associated with the order.
User | The user who owns the order.
Order Type | Tap to select the order type (e.g. dine in, take out, etc).
Date Created | The date and/or time the order was created.
Prepare By | The date and/or time the order needs to be prepared by.
Date Closed | If closed, the date and/or time the order was closed
# of Guests | The number of guests associated with the order. - Tap 'Send' to lock in the order and print kitchen tickets.
Reorder Menu Items
After sending an order, users can reorder menu items when a customer wants more. Put through another round without searching through the menu.
- Select a line item on the order.
- Tap 'Reorder'.
- Enter the quantity to reorder and tap 'Done'.
Or, just tap ‘Done’ to use the quantity last ordered / reordered.

Sort Open Orders
Adjust how open orders display to find a specific order by its name or the date / time it was created.
- Tap 'Open' to view all open orders.
- Tap the sort button and choose 'Alphabetical' or 'Creation Date'.
Alphabetical lists orders from A to Z by order name.
Creation Date lists orders by date/time from newest to oldest.Click to Enlarge A user’s sort preference stays the same until changed, even if they log in on a different device.
Complete an Order
Complete the order with payment when the customers are done eating to finish up the order.
- (Optional) Tap 'Payment Count' to change the number of payments you're receiving.
e.g. If someone wants to pay half in cash and half in credit, that would be 2 payments.
- Tap 'Payment Amount' to adjust the total of the payment.
For cash, this is the amount the customer hands you.
- Choose the customer's payment method.
Payment Methods Left to Right:
Cash | Credit | Other - If the customer overpays in cash, select whether to apply the difference as a tip or give change.
- (Optional) If there is more than one payment, repeat steps 2 - 4 as necessary.
Order Permissions
Use Permissions to fine tune what a group of users can access when creating orders.
- Go to 'Permissions' and choose a user group.
- Select 'Order' from the Permissions options.
Find additional ordering permissions under ‘Actions & Ordering’.
- Modify permissions as needed.
Hide | User Group cannot see the feature at the register.
View | Ability to view but not change the feature.
Edit | User group can make changes to the feature.
